It has taken two days to reach our next destination. An early morning start sees us travelling from Cusco to Aguas Calientes, Travelling from Cusco took only 3 hours, and with a final 20 min 4x4 ride to our final destination.

New Machu Pichu video uploaded in VIDEO SECTION
The oh-so-impressive ruins of Machu Picchu! I love the way the ruins from old houses line up with Huayna Picchu, the tall peak in the background. From our tour guide, I learned that the Incas had 3 different ways to construct their structures using stone. Each method depended on the social rank of person who lived there. These ruins would have been for the lower class as they lack the traditional"perfect rock fit" that you usually think of in Inca ruins.
If you intend visiting the sun gate while you are here, it only takes about 35 minutes, a must in my opinion. The humidity at this height along with the altitude can be quite oppresive so bring plenty to drink and extra clothing as it gets very cold later in the day at this time of year. Called Puerto del Sol, on December 21, the sun rises between two pillars, and shines through a window in one of the structures, believed to be a place of worship.
Next stop Limon,Costa Rica. But not before retracing my steps via Aguas Calientes and Cusco.
